The Legal Department is available to offer assistance to Oklahoma municipalities that are insured through OMAG.
OMAG attorneys have over 60 years of combined legal experience with Oklahoma municipal issues. The attorneys are available to offer guidance regarding municipal related problems. In the event that a lawsuit is filed against your municipality, OMAG legal counsel will assign experienced defense counsel who specializes in representing public entities and their officials.
The OMAG attorneys write publications on topics designed to help reduce liability and assist risk management efforts in your municipality. In addition, the Legal Department provides two monthly publications:
- Legal Update - sent directly to the municipal attorney providing up-to-date changes in the laws that pertain to public entities through Oklahoma and Federal municipal cases.
- Police Liability Legal Update - an exclusive publication of Oklahoma and Federal police cases, sent to the law enforcement officers of cities and towns insured by the OMAG Municipal Liability Protection Plan.
Other services include:
- Legal Review of Potential Adverse Personnel Actions - We assign counsel and provide the city up to $3,000 in legal fees.
- Legal Review of Personnel Handbooks & Policies - Counsel will review policies for compliance with federal and state law.
